乐队历程

初期事业与成功

1955年，五位底特律青少年以“The Five Chimes”名义组队。三位创始成员Smokey Robinson、Warren “Pete” Moore和Ronnie White自11岁起即搭档歌唱。最初阵容还包括Clarence Dawson与James Grice，后两人离队后，Emerson “Sonny” Rogers和其堂兄Bobby Rogers加入，队名改为“The Matadors”。1957年Sonny Rogers参军后，他的妹妹Claudette Rogers加入，1958年队名最终定为The Miracles。

他们成为莫城首支登上《American Bandstand》的艺人。随后几年持续推出热门单曲，并因成员健康与兵役等原因经历阵容调整。Claudette Robinson因多次流产，1964年起退出巡演，但继续在录音室伴唱至1972年。

“秀场终结者”

1962年，《You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me》成为Top 10金曲。1963年，Holland-Dozier-Holland为他们创作的《Mickey’s Monkey》再度进入Top 10。他们常被誉为“秀场终结者”，成为莫城全国巡演中的头号主角。
奇迹乐队也是莫城首支接受著名编舞Cholly Atkins指导的团体，后者后来成为莫城所有艺人的官方编舞。

创作生涯

乐队成员除为自己团体创作外，还为莫城其它艺人写下诸多金曲，如：为The Temptations创作《The Way You Do The Things You Do》、《My Girl》、《Don’t Look Back》、《Since I Lost My Baby》、《It’s Growing》、《Get Ready》、《My Baby》；为Mary Wells创作《My Guy》、《The One Who Really Loves You》等；为Marvin Gaye、The Marvelettes等亦有多首代表作。与其他莫城艺人不同，奇迹乐队是少数自己创作自己表演曲目的团队之一。
1964年起，Smokey Robinson成为莫城副总裁，Claudette专注家庭，退出巡演但继续参与录音。1965年，乐队以“Smokey Robinson and the Miracles”名义发行专辑《Going to a Go-Go》，内含四首Billboard Hot 100 Top 20单曲。
英伦“入侵”时期，披头士、The Hollies、The Zombies、The Who、滚石等都翻唱了他们的歌曲。披头士成员曾公开表示奇迹乐队对自己的深远影响。
1967年起，团队正式以“Smokey Robinson and the Miracles”名出现在单曲封面。
1969年，Smokey有意退出，但因《The Tears of a Clown》意外成为Top 1金曲而推迟。1972年Smokey Robinson正式离队，由Billy Griffin接任主唱。

后期生涯

1973年后，乐队以Billy Griffin为主唱发行专辑《Renaissance》，1974年以《Do It Baby》重返Top 20，1975年《Love Machine》登顶Hot 100榜单并售出450万张。1977年签约Columbia，后因成绩不佳及成员离队，1978年解散。
1980年Ronnie White与Bobby Rogers以“The New Miracles”名义短暂复出，1983年解散。1983年，原班人马（除Ronnie White外）在NBC特别节目《Motown 25》重聚。
1993年后，Ronnie White与Bobby Rogers再度重组奇迹乐队（成员有所变更），1995年White因白血病去世，Rogers则带领不同成员继续巡演至2011年因健康问题退休，2013年去世。
