人物传记
1934–1952：早年生活
Fred King出生于1934年，父母分别是Ella Mae King 和 J. T. Christian。Freddie 6岁时，其母亲及叔叔教他弹奏吉他。1949年，他与家人自达拉斯迁居至芝加哥南区。1952年，King在一家钢铁厂工作，并与同为德州人的Jessie Burnett结婚，两人育有七名子女。
1952–1959：迁居芝加哥及早期作品

1959–1966：Federal Records 时期
1959年，King结识了King Records公司（辛辛那提）钢琴家、制作人及A&R Sonny Thompson。公司老板Syd Nathan将King签入旗下Federal Records。1960年8月26日，他录制了首张单曲《Have You Ever Loved a Woman》和《You’ve Got to Love Her with a Feeling》。同场录制的器乐曲《Hide Away》于1961年登上Billboard R&B榜第5位，流行榜第29位，这在当时布鲁斯器乐曲鲜为白人听众知晓的年代实属罕见。《Hide Away》成为布鲁斯标准曲。King和Thompson随后又录制了三十多首器乐曲，包括《The Stumble》《Just Pickin’》《Sen-Sa-Shun》《Side Tracked》《San-Ho-Zay》《High Rise》和《The Sad Nite Owl》等。其间，他们也录制了许多主唱作品，但专辑中往往以器乐曲为主。Federal时期，King曾与Sam Cooke、Jackie Wilson、James Brown等多位著名R&B艺人同台巡演。
1966–1974：Cotillion、Shelter、RSO Records 时期
1966年，King与Federal Records的合约到期，期间他已从芝加哥搬回达拉斯。1967年，他首次进行海外巡演。1968年，制作人兼萨克斯手King Curtis为Atlantic旗下的Cotillion Records签下了King，并制作了两张专辑：《Freddie King Is a Blues Master》（1969）和《My Feeling for the Blues》（1970）。
